An Evening with Professor William Ascher

Tuesday, May 8

Hosted by Ivan Zinn '96
Atalaya Capital

780 3rd Ave., 27th Floor
New York, NY 10017

How can progress in environmental protection proceed under current circumstances? How can students and activists maintain their commitment to environmental studies and action when so many of the signals are depressing? Professor William Ascher, the Donald C. McKenna Professor of Government and Economics, will discuss these questions in a talk entitled "The Environment at a Crossroads: Progress on the Environment in the Age of Trump."

Professor Ascher argues that the future isn't entirely bleak. In fact, he will discuss two encouraging trends: the increased ownership of environmental initiatives at the state and other subnational levels, and the growing convergence of corporations and environmental NGOs to continue the improvements in environmental protection.
