Head Coach Ken Scalmanini rang in 2022 by notching the 400^th win of his Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's basketball coaching career. Scalmanini, who is the winningest coach in program history, now stands at 403-182 in his 23 years at the helm of the Stags.

What’s the secret to CMC? A special community that pays it forward. January is National Mentor Month and community connections thrive at CMC. Tejas Gala ’09 M’13 calls it CMC’s “secret sauce" that creates profound possibilities. “Literally all the jobs I’ve ever gotten were through CMC connections.”

Nicolas De Mello ’23 appreciates CMC’s balance between academic challenges, a pre-professional focus, and a wide range of extracurricular activities. De Mello is co-president of international student affinity group, I-Connect, and serves as an economic journalist at the Lowe Institute of Political Economy.

Naomi Bagdonas ’09, best-selling author and lecturer at Stanford Graduate School of Business, is serious about the science of humor and achieving joy in the workplace. “When we laugh, our brains release this cocktail of hormones…and we feel more trusting and energized,” she said.

Ryder Todd Smith ’96 is now chair of the Rose Institute of State and Local Government Advisory Board. Smith, who joined the Rose Institute’s board in 2016, has served as acting chair since April 2020. He succeeds Ray Remy ’59.

The complete writings of Ronald C. Moe ’59, a nationally renowned political science expert and analyst, now reside at CMC’s Rose Institute of State and Local Government thanks to a recent donation from Moe’s widow, Grace Tyler Moe.
