Inspired by classroom questions from her students about policy solutions for the nation’s social and inequality problems, Prof. Lily Geismer penned a recent book that examines the Democrats’ actions during the 1980s and 90s. Geismer found the outcomes were not what they intended.

A new ranking named CMC the top liberal arts college for return on investment, according to a Forbes-published report of cost and post-graduate earnings data. The study found that CMC graduates are able to pay back their education in just 1.5 years.

Providing students with both a theoretical and practical education in the inner workings of state and local government is what the Rose Institute does best. Its rich and diverse board just added three impressive new members and elevated others to new roles.

The CMS volleyball team, which finished 31-2 last year and reached the NCAA Division III semifinals, was voted second in the nation in a preseason poll from the American Volleyball Coaches Association, heading into the 2022 campaign.

Annie Raines ’22, a dual major in economics and history, said CMC not only prepared her for a career as an investment banking analyst at Citi in New York City, but gave her confidence. CMC was her training ground for the real world in all its facets.

Tamara Lawson ’92, the new dean of University of Washington School of Law, always wanted to be a lawyer. CMC was “foundational” in developing her critical thinking skills and diversity of viewpoints, she said.

Alex Hernandez ’96 is taking the helm as president of Champlain College—a journey made possible by CMC. “Champlain College helps students launch their lives through innovative, career-forward programs—the types of programs that helped my family at each step of our journey.”
