As the first Ath speaker this spring, Tamara F. Lawson ’92, the new dean of the University of Washington School of Law, delivered the 2023 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Lecture. She spoke on creating meaningful change in our lives and across society, and explored how the principles of nonviolence can guide us.

From philosopher and political activist Cornel West to investigative journalist Sam Quinones to law dean Tamara F. Lawson ’92, the Ath is hosting a variety of speakers this semester, bringing top luminaries with expertise and insight on a wide range of topics to engage and learn with our campus community.

The CMC community is coming together on Saturday, February 11 to celebrate the extraordinary life of Prof. Ward Elliott. In a newly published study, Prof. Jessamyn Schaller found that the shift to remote schooling during the pandemic led to a decrease in teen suicides. The results have resonated, garnering attention from notable national publications, such as The Economist and Forbes.

Thirteen Athena and Stag greats were inducted into the CMS Hall of Fame in January. The class of incredible athletes—National Champions, All-Americans, SCIAC Players of the Year, and MVPs—are also noted scholars and leaders.
