Celebrating Progress Toward CMC’s Bright Future

As the final structural steel beam was lowered into place, the Claremont McKenna College community celebrated the completion of the structural steel framework for the new Robert Day Sciences Center (RDSC). Signed by members of the project team, CMC trustees, and community members, the last piece of the steel puzzle represented a significant milestone toward realizing phase one of the College’s Master Plan to develop the Roberts Campus and construct the home for the new Kravis Department of Integrated Sciences.
To mark the occasion, CMC community members gathered together at the site of the future 142,000-square-foot facility for a “Topping Out” ceremony on March 22. Upon its completion in Summer 2025, the RDSC will house the College’s innovative undergraduate sciences program, organized around three overlapping foci (health, brain, planet).

Poet Laureate Opens Hearts at Ath

Ada Limón, the first Latina to serve as the nation’s official poet, shared her poems with a capacity audience at the Ath, including a poem commissioned by NASA.

Aaron Morales ’25, an Accounting-Economics major, spent an idyllic semester studying in Spain, but he was overjoyed to return to CMC. “Everyone on campus is so welcoming that you instantly feel at home.”

CMC’s 15th Annual Women and Leadership Workshop featured Elizabeth Wydra ’98 as the keynote speaker. Wydra, president of the Constitutional Accountability Center, led the discussion Women’s Leadership, Equal Citizenship, and Reproductive Justice.

The CMS men’s basketball team made the deepest NCAA Tournament run in program history when it won a regional, defeating St. Thomas (Texas) and Whitworth, to advance to the Round of 16 in Hampden-Sydney, Virginia.
