CMC politics, government, and history professors answered our community’s election-themed questions. They addressed queries that included Supreme Court scenarios, Electoral College contingencies, California considerations, Kamala Harris’s impact, and much more.

On Veterans Day, a trio of CMC alumni discussed how ROTC prepared them to become leaders in the United States Army. Watch the hour-long presentation featuring Lindsay Burton ’19 (logistics), Hunter Ashburn ’17 (armor), and John Marshall ’16 (engineers).

How does a philosopher weave diversity and anti-racism into the curriculum? “It’s doable,” says CMC Philosophy Prof. Briana Toole, who rolls out two new courses in the spring: “Feminism for Men” and “Philosophy Through Black Literature.”

While studying in Nantes, France in fall 2019, Kiubon Kokko ’21 captured small, yet meaningful, moments with his host family and friends. He transformed these moments into a short movie, “If I Could Put Into Words,” and won a film festival grand prize.

Lyric poet Henri Cole “traces agonizing cycles of longing with strange serenity,” according to The New Yorker. Watch archived video of the CMC literature professor at a recent virtual Ath appearance, where Cole read 14 original verses from his new collection, “Blizzard.”

In the runup to Nov. 3, Professors Lily Geismer and Tamara Venit-Shelton created a history-infused video to avoid election misconceptions. The 15-minute video is part of a CMC History Department series aimed at setting contemporary issues in historical perspective.

The latest installment of Championship Memories Saturday on cmsathletics.org features the 2020 SCIAC Championship won by the CMS women’s swimming and diving team, which took back the league title this winter after two straight runner-up finishes.
