Elena Castellanos ’21 has been selected into the prestigious Luce Scholars Program, which aims to provide young Americans who have “great leadership potential” with an immersive experience in Asia.

Before the pandemic, students across the 5Cs were prepping for a first-time theater collaboration, “The Addams Family Musical.” But when campuses abruptly closed, the students pivoted from a live theater production to a remote and socially distanced film.

CMC Prof. Helen Wong won a 2021 Simons Fellowship in Mathematics, making her one of two liberal arts college faculty to receive the highly prestigious fellowship in nearly a decade, and this year’s only researcher from a liberal arts college.

CMC’s Lowe Institute of Political Economy recently released its annual “State of the Region” report focused on the Inland Empire. Associate Professor Manfred Keil, Chief Economist for the Inland Empire Economic Partnership, co-authored the report. He shared his hopeful outlook with us.

Prospective students are getting a taste of life at Claremont McKenna College, with CMC resuming limited, in-person campus tours. In a Los Angeles Times story, a student, who had yet to make her college decision, “fell in love with the smaller Claremont campus. She was impressed by the Athenaeum, a lecture and dining space that fosters free-wheeling discussions with high-profile speakers — and attracts students with chocolate-covered strawberries and Rice Krispies treats.”
