Class of 2021 students were honored with special recognition for making a difference to the entire CMC community while performing at the highest academic level.

CMC honored five outstanding professors in recognition of their teaching, scholarship, and service. Among this year’s winners: Prof. Shanna Rose, who received the Roy P. Crocker Award for Service.

After qualifying for only his third career PGA Tour, Tain Lee ’12 represented CMS on the biggest of stages, holding a third-round lead at the Palmetto Championship for two hours during national CBS television coverage, before earning 14th out of 156 golfers.

Muriel Poston, a national leader in science education and research, has joined CMC as VP of Strategic Initiatives. “I’m honored to have the opportunity to work on the strategic initiatives of Integrated Science, Anti-Racism and the Black Experience, and the Open Academy,” Poston said.

A first-generation student with an interest in business, Carson Stubstad ‘22 is a project lead and director of recruitment with Graphite at the Randall Lewis Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. “I knew CMC offered opportunities but not to the extent I have seen and experienced since I got here,” he said.

Toluwani Roberts ’22 has won the highly competitive 2021 Beinecke Scholarship to fund her pursuit of graduate work in African Diaspora Studies, with a focus on religious studies. Roberts is one of 16 students in the U.S. to receive the scholarship.

Lydia Li, named to Forbes’ 30 Under 30 list, credits CMC’s culture and resources with making her “more intentional” in planning her future. “I started thinking about what a career means very early,” she says. “By 19, I was considering what steps I would need to reach the next milestone.”

Mohamad Moslimani '21 and Abhi Nemani '10 share their CMC journey, as well as the CMC support and experiences that helped shape their academic and professional paths.

As part of CMC’s 75^th Anniversary, CMS Athletics is highlighting great moments in its history. In 2002, the annual CMS Thanksgiving basketball tournament was renamed for David Wells ’72, a player, coach, and administrator.

Earlier this year, we didn’t think CMC would be able to celebrate the Class of 2021 with a student-only graduation ceremony on Parents Field. Thanks to the support and perseverance of our amazing community, CMC delivered. We hope you enjoy this tribute to a challenging and memorable year.
