Parent and Family Orientation

Parent & Family Orientation

On behalf of the Parent Network Board and the Office of Alumni and Parent Engagement, thank you to those who were able to join us either virtually or in-person during Parent and Family Orientation 2022! It was exciting to see hundreds of parents, family members, and friends come together to celebrate this new chapter and learn about the College and the resources available to students.

If you were able to attend, we hope that you enjoyed the programming and found both the virtual and in-person sessions informative. In order to continually improve this event and provide helpful services, we ask that you please complete this post-event survey. Your response will assist us in our review and planning for future orientations.

You can access amazing photos of the weekend here.

Once again, welcome to the CMC community! We hope to see you on campus for Family Weekend, February 18-20, 2023.

Move-in Day and CMC Parent & Family Orientation

CMC Parent & Family Orientation will operate concurrently with New Student Orientation and move-in day on Sunday, August 21, 2022. Keys will be issued to students beginning at 8:00 a.m. Our First-Year Guides and other students will be on hand to help guide you to your destination and unload your vehicle! After students are moved into their rooms, students and families will participate in programs together and separately.

WOA Trips

On Monday, August 22, students will depart for their WOA trips. WOA stands for Welcome Orientation Adventure. WOA Trips are destination experiences designed to help students make connections and learn life skills before entering college at CMC. The many trip offerings allow students a variety of opportunities and activities, from surfing to camping to community service and urban engagement. Students will return from WOA on Wednesday, August 24. For more information about WOA, visit the WOA website.

International Students and Families

New International Student Orientation takes place prior to the Claremont McKenna College orientation on Friday, August 19 - Sunday, August 21. CMC requires new international students to participate in the program. In addition, the Dean of Students Office will host a virtual session for international parents and families. More information about this session will follow via email.

Varsity Athletes

Fall sport athletes who are invited to participate in pre-season activities will arrive early. Check with individual coaches for exact dates before making plans. Although there frequently are opportunities for parents to meet each other during the drop-off time, the official orientation program is held on Sunday, August 21.

Additional Information

Students should not make personal appointments away from the campus during the Orientation period. Classes begin Monday, August 29, 2022. If arrival must be delayed, students should make arrangements in advance with the Dean of Students Office at (909) 621-8114.
