Yong Kim, the Henry Crown Visiting Associate Professor in the Robert Day School of Economics and Finance, was awarded a Faculty Fellowship from the John Randolph Haynes and Dora Haynes Foundation to execute his proposal, “Analyzing Divergent Impacts of Los Angeles Housing Policy on Rents vs. House Prices.” Kim’s research will analyze how Los Angeles housing policies, like rent control and upzoning, create divergent price impacts on rent versus house prices. Utilizing “rental discount theory,” the study will identify overlooked affordability consequences to provide local leaders with a Policy Action Report for more equitable urban planning.
